This notice applies to the PlanEngage platform owned and operated by AECOM and its affiliates.
This notice describes how AECOM collects, uses, discloses, and stores your personal information in connection with your use of the PlanEngage platform.
If you choose not to provide your personal information or data to AECOM this may affect your ability to inquire about or engage our services or utilize the functionalities of AECOM’s PlanEngage platform. You can always choose to deal with AECOM anonymously (or by providing a pseudonym) unless it is impracticable for AECOM to deal with you on that basis.
Lawful Basis for Processing Your Data
AECOM collects, uses, and shares your personal information or data only as necessary and with your consent.
Data or Information Collected About You
AECOM will collect information that you voluntarily provide to us, for example, your name and contact details (including address, email address, and phone number).
The types of circumstances in which AECOM may collect your personal information directly from you include the following:
- To provide you with access to the PlanEngage platform we may collect identifiers such as your name, email, phone number, contact details, date of birth, address, username, IP address, organization, password, and any other personal information or data you volunteer.
- If you submit “Feedback” via our PlanEngage platform – AECOM will collect your IP address, the email address you provide, and the content of the Feedback.
- If you submit a “Community Comment” via our PlanEngage platform – AECOM will collect your name, title, email address, address, company name, phone number, fax number, stakeholder type, and the answers you provide to any questions posed or any comments you might provide.
- If you contact AECOM via your email software or using the “Contact Us” form on the PlanEngage platform - AECOM will collect your name and email address and any other personal information or data, you volunteer.
- If you request a report from the PlanEngage platform, including any annual report, we will collect your name and email address and any other personal information or data you volunteer.
- If you subscribe to any AECOM e-publication via the PlanEngage platform, AECOM will collect your name and email address and any other information you provide to us. You may opt out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the email.
- AECOM may also collect personal information or data about you indirectly from third parties, including other PlanEngage users, sub-consultants and third parties and contractors engaged to do work on, manage or service the PlanEngage platform.
AECOM may also collect information about how you use the PlanEngage platform and our services including the following:
- Information about how you use the PlanEngage platform, including usage history, habits, preferences, browser or device information such as location information, IP addresses, cookie IDs, and other unique identifiers, as well as content and service metrics. - Data relating to your administrative use of the PlanEngage platform or our services, such as account information.
Some types of personal information are designated as 'sensitive information subject to additional protection under global data protection laws, including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation. We will not collect sensitive information from you without your consent, unless we are required, authorized, or permitted by law to do so. Sensitive information can be, but is not limited to, information or an opinion about racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious beliefs or affiliations, philosophical beliefs, membership of a professional or trade association, membership of a trade union, sexual orientation or practices, criminal record, health information about an individual, genetic information about an individual that is not otherwise health information, biometric information that is to be used for automated biometric verification or biometric identification, and/or biometric templates.
Use and Sharing of Your Data
AECOM collects, holds, uses, and discloses your personal information to provide the PlanEngage platform and its related services and functionality, conducting its business, and communicating with you. We do not sell personal information or data to third parties. Some examples of the specific purposes for which we may collect, use, and disclose (including to third parties) your personal information include the following:
- Providing the PlanEngage platform or AECOM services to you, AECOM clients, and others accessing the PlanEngage platform; communicating with you; managing your account; and delivering customer or technical support, including by disclosing personal information to third-party contractors.
- Developing, managing operating and improving the PlanEngage platform, AECOM services, and business processes (for instance through the collection of statistical data and the use of cookies).
- Compiling contact details of individuals who have elected to receive an electronic mail-out of an e-publication or an annual report.
- For administration, security, and verification purposes, including account activation, providing login details to you, and providing password or account resets.
- Responding to you or providing information about a question or request, for example in response to a “Community Comment” made by you.
- Providing your feedback, either in aggregated/anonymized form or non-aggregated/non-anonymized form, to the entities and AECOM clients that have a financial, regulatory, ownership, or other interest in the project or issue on which you are providing feedback.
- Publicly displaying comments that you make in the “Community Comment” section in PlanEngage.
- Compiling and analyzing stakeholder inputs for use on the PlanEngage platform.
- Responding to a business query regarding AECOM’s services or the PlanEngage platform.
- Forwarding your question to the appropriate AECOM entity or business line for a response.
- Protecting the safety of AECOM employees and protecting and managing AECOM’s corporate assets (including the PlanEngage platform).
- In the event of a transfer, sale, or restructuring of some or all our assets or business.
- Complying with legal and regulatory requirements, or as otherwise required or permitted by law.
Choices and Data Privacy Rights Related to Your Data
- You may access personal information or data that we hold about you. You can ask us to correct any errors or delete the information we have about you.
- You may opt-out of any further contact from us through the email unsubscribe or opt-out link.
- You may file a complaint with the AECOM Privacy Office or the regulator in your jurisdiction.
- You may contact the AECOM Privacy Office to exercise your data privacy rights. To protect your privacy and the privacy of others, we may have to verify that you are who you say you are before we can give you access to, change, or delete information about you.

How to Contact Us
Users in Australia
This section only applies where you are accessing the PlanEngage platform in or from Australia, or where the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) otherwise applies to the collection, use, disclosure, or storage of your personal information. If this section applies, to the extent that there is an inconsistency between the terms of this section and the remainder of the notice, the terms in this section will prevail.
Where this section applies, the entity that is collecting your personal information will be:
- AECOM Australia Pty Ltd; or
- AECOM Services Pty Ltd,
AECOM may share or disclose your personal information where it is necessary to give effect to one or more of the purposes set out in the "Use and Sharing of Your Data" section above, including to related entities, legal advisors and third party suppliers that are utilized in order to provide PlanEngage and other entities as described in AECOM’s full privacy notice.
AECOM may disclose your personal information to its related bodies corporate located overseas. AECOM may also disclose information to third party overseas recipients (of the type outlined in AECOM’s full privacy notice) including, but not limited to, personal information contained in email and project files.
If we do disclose personal information collected, held, or used by AECOM outside of Australia to overseas recipients then recipients would be located in the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA).
